Compare the 1lb and 2lb I Love You Butter Pecan Meltaways tins on price, shareability, and gifting. See which size fits your Valentine's Day plan.
Quick answer
Choose the 2lb I Love You Butter Pecan Meltaways tin when you want the lowest cost per pound and enough to share; choose the 1lb tin when you need a smaller, easier-to-carry gift for one person. Both come in the same signature tin and use the same butter pecan meltaway recipe.
Price per pound: the 2lb tin is the better value
At the listed catalog prices, the 2lb tin costs $20.71 and the 1lb tin costs $17.71. That works out to about $10.36 per pound for the 2lb tin versus $17.71 per pound for the 1lb tin, so the larger tin gives you roughly twice the cookies for only $3 more. If you are feeding a family or bringing a shareable dessert to a party, the 2lb tin is the practical pick. The 1lb tin costs more per pound, but you are paying for a smaller, more portable gift rather than for a different recipe.
Sharing vs. gifting: match the tin to the moment
The 2lb tin is built for sharing: it holds enough meltaways to set out for guests, bring to a Galentine's gathering, or split between two households. The 1lb tin is sized for a single recipient, which makes it easier to wrap, carry, or send as a standalone Valentine's gesture. Neither tin includes portioned packs or dividers according to the catalog, so plan to transfer the cookies to a serving plate if you want a tidy presentation.
Shelf life and storage: both tins are non-perishable
The 1lb tin is described as non-perishable, and the 2lb tin uses the same meltaway format. That means you can buy either size ahead of Valentine's Day without worrying about refrigeration. Store the tin in a cool, dry place and keep it sealed between servings so the meltaways stay tender. If you open a 2lb tin for a small household, reseal it after each serving rather than leaving it open on the counter.
Trade-offs at a glance
- Cost per pound: The 2lb tin is about $10.36 per pound at the listed price, while the 1lb tin is $17.71 per pound. The 2lb tin is the better value if you will eat or share the full two pounds. If you only need a small gift, the higher per-pound cost of the 1lb tin is the price of convenience.
- Sharing capacity: The 2lb tin holds twice as many meltaways, making it the better choice for parties, offices, or multi-person households. The 1lb tin is a single-recipient size. Buy the 2lb tin when the cookies will be set out for a group; buy the 1lb tin when one person will open it.
- Gift portability: The 1lb tin is lighter and easier to wrap, ship, or hand-deliver. The 2lb tin is heavier and better suited to a host gift you carry by car or present in person. For long-distance shipping or a small gesture, the 1lb tin reduces handling and postage.
